Best Time to Visit Kaza
Plan your trip around the right season
Why visit
The only practical window for Spiti Valley. Manali-Kaza road via Rohtang and Shimla-Kaza road via Kinnaur both open in this period. Key Monastery, Kibber village, and Chandratal Lake are all accessible.
Keep in mind
July is peak season - rooms in Kaza and Kibber are scarce. Altitude (3800m) and UV are harsh - acclimatize properly.
Why visit
Shoulder months with very few tourists and crisp photography light. Good for those who have done Spiti before.
Keep in mind
Passes may still be closed in May. October closure timing varies yearly - watch BRO advisories before booking.
Why visit
Snow leopard sightings are possible in winter for specialist wildlife trips.
Keep in mind
Both access roads close completely. Valley is cut off and temperatures drop to -20°C or below. Not practical for regular tourism.
