Talakaveri is the origin of the sacred River Kaveri, located atop the Brahmagiri hills at an elevation of 1,276 meters, approximately 44 km from Madikeri. According to Hindu mythology, the river originates from a spring in a small tank called Brahmakundike. The site features a temple dedicated to Lord Brahma and Goddess Kaveriamma, and is considered one of the most sacred places in South India. The location offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. During the festival of Tula Sankramana (usually in October), thousands of devotees gather here to witness the spring bubbling up, marking the beginning of the river's journey.
