Divya Shila, known locally as the slab of divine light, is a reddish brown rock pillar standing near Surya Kund on the approach to Yamunotri Temple. Devotees traditionally worship this stone before entering the main shrine, since paying respects here is considered an essential part of the pilgrimage ritual. Flowers, coins and small offerings are commonly left at its base. Pilgrims and trekkers pass it directly on the short walking route to the temple, making it impossible to miss.
