Thirunelli Temple

Ancient Vishnu temple in the Brahmagiri hills known as the Kashi of the South.

Thirunelli Temple sits deep in the Brahmagiri hills of Wayanad, revered as one of Kerala's oldest Vishnu shrines and often called the Kashi of the South for its role in funerary rites. Believed to be over a thousand years old, the temple is built from grey granite in a style distinct from typical Kerala architecture. The nearby Papanasini stream is considered sacred, with pilgrims bathing here believing it washes away sins, adding a deeply spiritual layer to the surrounding forest scenery.
