Thousand Pillar Temple

12th century Kakatiya temple in Hanamkonda with three shrines and carved pillars.

Thousand Pillar Temple stands in Hanamkonda as one of Warangal's most celebrated Kakatiya monuments. Built in the 12th century under King Rudra Deva, it houses three shrines dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Surya in a star shaped layout known as Trikutalayam. The temple is renowned for its densely carved pillars, a monolithic Nandi bull and intricate rock cut elephants. Maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, it remains an active pilgrimage site and a benchmark of Kakatiya architectural craftsmanship.
