Sri Margabandeeswarar Temple stands in Virinjipuram village on the southern bank of the Palar River, around fourteen kilometers from Vellore. Built during the Chola dynasty in the thirteenth century, the temple is known for its Dravidian architecture and finely worked stone carvings across its walls and pillars. It remains an active shrine drawing pilgrims from across the district, and its relative distance from the city keeps it quieter than Vellore's more visited temples.
