Assumption Cathedral, also known as the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vellore, was first built in 1854 and rebuilt into its present form in 2002. The cathedral's 165 foot belfry ranks among the tallest church towers in India, and its interior features detailed glasswork depicting the history of the church. Located about three kilometers from Vellore Town Railway Station, it remains an active pilgrimage site for the region's Christian community.
