Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur, about 5 km from Tirupati, is one of the most important goddess temples in Andhra Pradesh, dedicated to Padmavathi, the consort of Lord Venkateswara. According to legend, Padmavathi was born from a lotus in a sacred pond here, and she was the earthly princess who married Lord Venkateswara. The temple is managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and attracts millions of pilgrims who visit Tiruchanur before or after their Tirumala darshan. The goddess is worshipped here as Alamelu Manga Thayar, and the temple is one of the most revered goddess shrines in South India.
