Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary protects nearly 1,690 hectares of mangrove and mudflat habitat where lesser and greater flamingos gather in their thousands between October and May. A bamboo bridge leads through the mangroves to a viewing platform, while boat safaris carry visitors closer to the birds depending on tide timings. A small museum at the entrance explains flamingo migration patterns alongside displays on other creek wildlife. Though nearer Airoli than central Thane, the sanctuary carries the Thane Creek name and draws birdwatchers from across the region.
