Surang Tila

Sirpur''s largest temple complex, a raised stone terrace with five sanctums dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu.

Surang Tila occupies a pillared terrace raised nearly 30 feet above the surrounding ground, connected by stone steps that show signs of ancient subsidence. Excavated between 2006 and 2007, the site revealed five sanctums including two grey Shiva lingas and shrines to Vishnu. Local memory recalls it as a soil mound riddled with tunnels before excavation uncovered its temple structure. Ruins of a monk's residence and a smaller tantric shrine lie just below the main terrace.
