Gandheshwar Temple stands on the bank of the Mahanadi River, reached by a set of stone steps leading down from the sanctum. Unlike most of Sirpur's excavated ruins, this temple remains in continuous worship and is regularly repainted by the local community. Its walls incorporate recovered fragments bearing Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain iconography, including an 8th century Brahmi inscription dedicated to Buddha. The riverside setting makes it a good stop for visitors wanting a break from the archaeological trail.
