The Ridge

The Ridge in Shimla is the heart of the city — a broad open promenade running along the top of the main ridge at an altitude of about 2,200 metres, offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and, on clear days, glimpses of the snow-covered Himalayan peaks. The Ridge connects the famous Mall Road with Jakhu Hill and is flanked by Christ Church, the Gaiety Theatre, and the Town Hall. On weekends and evenings the Ridge fills with locals and tourists enjoying the mountain air, street performances, and stunning views. Shimla's main festivals and public events are traditionally held on the Ridge.
