Bon Monastery (Kewzing)

One of only two Bon sect monasteries in India, offering a rare non-Buddhist spiritual tradition near Ravangla.

Bon Monastery, also known as Bon Yung Dung Monastery, sits in Kewzing village about 6 to 8 kilometers from Ravangla. Established in 1980 by the late Yung Dung Tsultrim, it follows the pre-Buddhist Bon faith that once flourished in Tibet before the 8th century. India has only two Bon monasteries, this one and another in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, making the site distinctive within Sikkim's largely Buddhist religious landscape. Indo-Tibetan architecture and murals of Bon deities decorate the interior, while resident monks conduct morning and evening chanting rituals.
