Ranchi Sun Temple

A striking chariot-shaped temple near Bundu, built with 18 wheels drawn by seven stone horses.

Ranchi Sun Temple, located near Bundu roughly 40 kilometres from the city, takes the form of a colossal stone chariot with 18 wheels pulled by seven horses, a design dedicated to the sun god Surya. The temple ranks among Jharkhand's most photographed religious sites, especially striking at sunrise and sunset when light plays across its carved surfaces. A sacred pond within the complex draws pilgrims believing a dip here washes away sins, making the drive from Ranchi worthwhile.
