Kumbhalgarh Fort

A UNESCO Heritage fort near Udaipur with 36-km walls — second only to the Great Wall of China — birthplace of Maharana Pratap and containing 360 temples.

Kumbhalgarh Fort in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most formidable hill forts in India. Built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha of the Mewar dynasty, the fort is famous for its massive walls that extend 36 kilometres — the second longest continuous wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. The fort was the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the legendary Rajput warrior, and served as a refuge for Mewar rulers during invasions. The fort complex contains 360 temples within its walls, and an annual sound-and-light show narrates its history.
