Swami Vivekananda Sarovar, popularly called Budha Talab, ranks as Raipur's oldest lake and one of its most visited public spaces. A 37-foot bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda, seated in lotus position, rises from an island at the lake's centre, part of the Nilabh Garden with its fountains and betel nut-lined pathways. Boating, evening walks, and food stalls draw steady crowds, especially around sunset. Local legend holds that Vivekananda himself swam here during his two-year stay in the city.
