Hanuman Mandir (Lete Hanuman Ji) inside Allahabad Fort is one of the most unusual Hanuman temples in India — the idol of Lord Hanuman is in a reclining (lete hue) position, which is exceptionally rare. The temple is believed to be very ancient and is located within the Allahabad Fort built by Emperor Akbar. According to local belief, the idol sinks a little deeper into the ground each year. The temple is accessible to civilians and sees heavy footfall during the Kumbh Mela. It is considered one of the most powerful Hanuman shrines in Uttar Pradesh.
