Allahabad Fort, also known as Akbar Fort, is a massive fortification built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1583 on the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. It is one of the largest forts built by Akbar and served as an important strategic and administrative centre of the Mughal Empire. The fort houses the famous Ashoka Pillar, the Saraswati Koop, and the underground Patalpuri Temple. Parts of the fort remain under the control of the Indian Army and are not fully accessible to the public. The fort's imposing walls and riverside location make it one of Prayagraj's most significant historical monuments.
