Shahpurkandi Fort stands on the banks of the Ravi River, built in 1505 by Rajput chieftain Jaspal Singh Pathania to protect the Nurpur and Kangra region. The fort later served as the last refuge of freedom fighter Ram Singh Pathania during his 1848 revolt against British rule. Though partly ruined, its ramparts, carved pillars, and gateways still reflect Rajput and Mughal architectural influences, and the site offers wide views of the Himalayan foothills and the river below.
