Also called the Thein Dam, Ranjit Sagar Dam was built across the Ravi River and completed in 2001 as Punjab's largest hydroelectric project. The reservoir stretches into neighboring Jammu and Kashmir and draws visitors for its scenery, boating, and birdwatching among migratory flocks. Cottages near the site allow overnight stays, though a permission slip from the Jujjal barrier is required before entry. Roughly 30 kilometers from Pathankot, it remains the region's best-known day trip beyond the city.
