Originally called Dhameri Fort, Nurpur Fort was built in the 10th century by Tomar Rajputs and later renamed after Mughal empress Nur Jahan visited the site. Earthquakes and British-era destruction left much of it in ruins, though the surrounding walls, ponds, and a 400-year-old Maulshri tree survive. Inside stands the Brij Raj Swami temple, one of few shrines where both Krishna and Meera Bai are worshipped together. The fort sits about 25 kilometers from Pathankot in Himachal Pradesh.
