Chang La Pass rises to roughly 5,360 metres on the road connecting Leh to Pangong Tso, making it the third highest motorable pass in the world. Prayer flags line the summit alongside a small army run tea stall and a DRDO station nearby. The Indian Army maintains a strong presence given the border location, and the route winds through loose gravel and slush. Most visitors stop briefly, but the views of snow covered ridges make it memorable.
