Tendong Hill rises to 8530 feet as one of South Sikkim's most recognizable natural landmarks, revered in Lepcha folklore as the hill that rose to save people from a great flood. A roughly six kilometer trek through rhododendron and magnolia forest leads to the summit, where views stretch across the Teesta river valley and the plains of Bengal. Lamas historically used the hill for meditation, adding spiritual weight to its natural draw. It remains a favored trekking route for visitors based in Namchi.
