Langpangkong Caves lie along the Dikhu river about 30 kilometers from Mokokchung town, near Ungma village. Local legend holds that an Ahom king once took refuge inside during a Burmese invasion, and the caves carry that history in their name and lore. Two adjoining caverns, Fusen Kei and Mongzu Kei, are known locally as the eagle caves, tied to Ao beliefs about departed souls taking flight after death. Stalactites and stalagmites line the interior, drawing trekkers and nature lovers.
