Rewalsar Lake

Sacred lake revered by Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists alike, ringed by mountains.

Rewalsar Lake, also known as Tso Pema or Lotus Lake, draws pilgrims from three distinct faiths who each hold its waters sacred for different reasons. A gurdwara, a Buddhist monastery, and several Hindu temples stand close together along its banks, with an imposing statue of Padmasambhava overlooking the small township. Floating vegetation islands drift across the lake's surface, and while fishing is prohibited, feeding the resident fish is a popular activity for visitors. The site's shared religious significance across communities makes it a distinctive stop despite sitting somewhat beyond Mandi's immediate town radius.
