Sakuli Beel and nearby wetlands

Majuli's network of wetland beels, including Sakuli, Bhereki, and Bor beel, become seasonal havens for migratory birds arriving from as far as Europe, North Asia, and the Himalayan region during the cooler winter months. Storks, pelicans, whistling teals, and occasionally Siberian cranes can be spotted among the reeds and open water, alongside resident ducks and wild geese. The flat, open terrain around these wetlands makes for easy birdwatching without specialized equipment, appealing to casual visitors as much as dedicated birders. Winter mornings offer the best visibility before the day's heat sets in.
