The star is Madurai Malli, the citys legendary jasmine variety prized for its intense fragrance and exported across South India. The market runs round the clock but peaks before dawn, when farmers arrive fresh from surrounding villages and the narrow lanes overflow with marigold, rose, tuberose, and jasmine.
