Phubala lies on the western edge of Loktak Lake close to Moirang and takes its name from a figure in the Khamba-Thoibi legend. The site has been developed for boating and water sports, with calm stretches of water suited to leisurely paddling rather than adventure activity. It makes a convenient, less crowded alternative to Sendra for watching the lake at golden hour, and forest rest house accommodation is available nearby for those staying overnight.
