The only practical window for most travelers. High passes like Khardung La and Chang La are open, Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley are accessible, and daytime temperatures are comfortable. Hemis Festival in July is worth planning around.

July and August are peak months - bike rentals, Pangong camps, and good guesthouses book out weeks ahead. Prices spike significantly.

Quieter shoulder season before the tourist rush. Monasteries are accessible and the town is peaceful.
