Arishina Gundi Falls, also called Arasina Makki Falls, lies deep inside the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary about ten kilometres from Kollur. The waterfall gets its name from the turmeric like yellow orange hue that appears when sunlight hits the spray, an effect locals have described for generations. Reaching it involves a short trek through dense forest, and permission is needed at the sanctuary checkpoint before entering. October to December brings the best balance of pleasant weather and steady water flow for visitors.
