Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, is a Portuguese-built and later Dutch-renovated palace in Mattancherry, Kochi. Built around 1555, the palace was gifted to the Cochin royal family by the Portuguese. Its most remarkable feature is the series of murals covering the walls of the bedrooms and the coronation hall — some of the finest examples of Kerala mural painting, depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranas with extraordinary detail and vibrancy. The palace also displays coronation robes, royal portraits, royal palanquins, and other artefacts of the Cochin royal family. It is a UNESCO tentative list site.
