A subsidiary shrine within the Western Group enclosure, the Nandi Temple houses a large sculpture of Nandi, the sacred bull and mount of Lord Shiva. Positioned directly opposite the Vishwanath Temple in the traditional Panchayatan arrangement, where Nandi always faces his lord, the pavilion is an integral part of the Vishwanath complex's original design. Though modest in scale compared to the major temples nearby, it completes the ceremonial logic of the enclosure and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
