A magnificent 17th-century Orchha temple with soaring spires, built for Lord Vishnu in his four-armed form by Raja Madhukar Shah.

Chaturbhuj Temple in Orchha is a magnificent 17th-century temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his four-armed (Chaturbhuj) form. Built by Raja Madhukar Shah, the temple is remarkable for its grand scale and unique design that blends temple and palace architecture — it has five-storeyed towers and is one of the tallest temple structures in central India. The temple was originally meant to house the idol of Ram Raja, but the idol was eventually installed in the nearby palace-turned-temple. Chaturbhuj Temple's soaring spires dominate the Orchha skyline and are a major draw for visitors.
