Bithoor is a small historic town on the banks of the Ganga, about 22 km from Kanpur, carrying deep significance in both Hindu mythology and Indian history. According to the Ramayana, this is the site of Valmiki's ashram where Sita spent her years of exile and gave birth to Luv and Kush. The town also played a central role in the 1857 Revolt — Nana Saheb Peshwa, one of the revolt's key leaders, was based here. Major attractions include Brahmaghat, the Valmiki Ashram, Nana Rao Dhaam, and the Patthar Ghat. The peaceful riverside ghats and mythological associations make Bithoor a deeply layered heritage destination.
