Bedse Caves

Bedse Caves sit on a hillside near Kamshet, carved in the same first century BCE Buddhist tradition as the nearby Karla and Bhaja caves but drawing far fewer visitors. A climb of four hundred stone steps leads to a chaitya hall with a large stupa and a vihara lined with rock cut cells for monks. Old water tanks and a faint inscription add historic texture, and the quiet setting makes it a rewarding stop for cave heritage without the crowds.
