MSSRF Regional Centre, located at Puthoorvayal about three kilometres from Kalpetta, is a field unit of the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation. The centre works with tribal and rural communities across Wayanad on conservation of traditional farming knowledge, seed diversity and sustainable agricultural practices. It is not a conventional tourist stop but appeals to visitors interested in India's grassroots conservation movements and the everyday science behind indigenous farming systems.
