Tocklai Tea Research Institute

Tocklai Tea Research Institute, founded in 1911, is the oldest and largest tea research station in the world and has shaped the science behind Assam's tea industry for more than a century. Spread across sprawling grounds on the edge of Jorhat, the institute studies every stage of tea production, from soil and plant breeding to processing and quality testing. Visitors can walk through demonstration gardens, view historic research buildings and, where permitted, sample tea varieties developed on site.
