Sukapha Samannay Kshetra

A memorial park and cultural centre in Jorhat honouring Chaolung Sukapha, the thirteenth century founder of the Ahom dynasty.

Sukapha Samannay Kshetra is a memorial complex built in honour of Chaolung Sukapha, who founded the Ahom kingdom in Assam in 1228 and whose six century dynasty shaped the region's language, administration and culture. The complex includes a museum tracing Ahom history, a landscaped park and a cultural centre used for community events. Displays walk visitors through the migration of the Ahoms into the Brahmaputra valley and their gradual integration with local communities.
