Raja Maidam

Raja Maidam contains the burial mounds of Ahom royalty near Jorhat, offering a direct link to the dynasty that ruled Assam for nearly six centuries. The site holds the vaults of King Purandar Singha and his queen, built in the traditional maidam style with earthen mounds raised over underground burial chambers. Local families visit to pay respects to the departed royals, while history minded travellers come to see firsthand how the Ahoms marked the passing of their rulers.
