Barbarua Maidam lies about thirteen kilometres south of Dibrugarh on NH-37, holding the burial mounds of two high-ranking Ahom dynasty officials alongside smaller maidams believed to belong to soldiers. The site's earthen mounds and open grounds carry the understated grandeur typical of Ahom funerary architecture, built to honour rank rather than display ornamentation. Locals also use the surrounding open ground for casual sport and picnics, giving the maidam a dual identity as both historical site and neighbourhood green space.
