Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary spans the districts of Chikmagalur and Shivamogga and is ringed by the Mullayanagiri, Hebbegiri, Gangegiri, and Baba Budangiri hill ranges, with the Bhadra river running through its core. Jeep and bus safaris run in the early morning and late afternoon in search of tigers, elephants, gaur, and leopards, while the river itself supports boating, rafting, and crocodile spotting for visitors who prefer water based exploration. Its scale and range of activities make it the district's primary wildlife destination alongside Kudremukh.
