Baba Budangiri

A dual Hindu Muslim pilgrimage hill with a Sufi saint''s dargah and the Dattatreya caves sharing one shrine.

Baba Budangiri rises to about 1,895 meters and takes its name from the Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar, whose dargah sits inside a cave shared with a shrine to the Hindu deity Dattatreya, making the hill sacred to both communities. A stairwell inside the cave complex connects the two shrines, and the trek up passes through shola forest with views toward Mullayanagiri along the way. The hill also hosts the rare Neelakurinji flower, which blooms in large numbers only once every twelve years.
