Panchmura Terracotta Craft Village lies about 22 kilometers from Bishnupur and is the source of the Bankura horse, one of the most recognizable folk art objects in India. Generations of potter families here shape and fire terracotta figurines, horses, and decorative pieces using techniques passed down through the region's long clay working tradition. It makes a worthwhile half day add on for travelers keen to see where much of Bengal's terracotta craft actually originates.
