Kalachand Temple, built around 1656, is one of the earlier examples of Bishnupur's temple building tradition under the Malla dynasty. Its compact ekaratna form and laterite construction reflect the architectural conventions that would later evolve into the more elaborate terracotta temples the town is best known for. The temple offers a quieter, less visited counterpoint to Bishnupur's marquee sites and rewards travelers interested in the earlier phase of Malla religious architecture.
