Boro Pathar Darja

Bishnupur''s larger surviving fort gateway, a double tiered structure once fitted with narrow slits for archers on defense.

Boro Pathar Darja is the larger of Bishnupur's two surviving fortification gateways, built with a double tiered structure that once housed a guard post above the passage. Narrow slits in its upper level allowed archers and gunmen to watch and defend the approach to the old walled temple town. Though the surrounding fort walls have long since crumbled, this gateway remains a solid reminder of Bishnupur's defensive past under Malla rule.
