Kalo Dungar (Black Hill)

The highest point in Kutch, offering panoramic Rann views alongside a 400 year old Dattatreya temple.

Kalo Dungar, literally Black Hill, rises to 462 metres as the highest point in Kutch, roughly 25 kilometres from Dhordo. A 400 year old temple dedicated to Dattatreya, worshipped here as a three headed form combining Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, sits near the summit. The panoramic view over the Great Rann is best experienced at sunrise or late afternoon, though a trek beyond the military checkpost toward the sunset point is restricted. Regular tours run from the Rann Utsav grounds, though pre booking a return ride is advisable.
