Dholavira occupies Khadir Bet island within the Rann of Kutch and ranks among the best preserved Indus Valley Civilization sites in India, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. The excavated city reveals a fortified citadel, middle and lower towns, and an advanced water harvesting system built to survive the region's arid climate. A site museum displays pottery, beads, seals and tools uncovered during decades of excavation. No accommodation exists within Dholavira itself, so most visitors base themselves in Bhuj or Gandhidham.
