Shri Koteshwar Mahadev Temple stands a short drive from Ambaji on the banks of what tradition holds to be the source of the Saraswati river. A stone gaumukh releases water into a holy kund where pilgrims bathe, and the temple itself, rebuilt over the centuries, is linked in local legend to sage Valmiki and to Maharana Pratap. Langurs are common along the approach path, and evening aarti draws a steady stream of visitors through the forested surroundings.
