Pavana Narasimha Temple

Remote riverside shrine near the Chenchu tribal settlement, considered the most peaceful of the nine forms.

Pavana Narasimha Temple sits on the banks of the Pavana river about six kilometres south of Upper Ahobilam, reached by a steep forested path. Regarded as the most tranquil of the nine Narasimha forms, the shrine stands close to a small Chenchu tribal settlement whose community still recalls the old story of a Chenchu woman's marriage to the deity. Forest department restrictions limit vehicle access here, so most pilgrims complete the final stretch on foot. Small stalls near the temple offer basic refreshments for the return walk.
