Jwala Narasimha Temple sits inside a cave near the summit of Achalachaya Meru, making it the highest and most demanding of the nine Narasimha shrines to reach. The deity here appears in his fiercest eight armed form, shown in the act of slaying Hiranyakashipu. The trek from Upper Ahobilam covers roughly four kilometres of rocky terrain and takes close to two hours, passing waterfalls and river crossings along the way. Only fit and well prepared pilgrims typically attempt the full climb.
